River Traffic

The rivers of the UK can provide a route for cargos too large to carry by conventional rail or road transport. Here is an example of some large sugar silos being transported along the river Yare yesterday to Cantley Sugar Factory. Far too large to travel by road. Im glad we didnt come across these whilst we were on the Broads!!

Threading the cargo through Reedham Swing Bridge.

  1. You would have been Ok if you had been doing less than 30 Kts, :-)

On a serous note, its a good job Rail Track had not been allowed to let the rail bridges fall into disrepair so they could no longer be opened. I am not sure they would have got this into Norwich.

  2. We had no chance of doing 30 knots on the Broads. The rangers followed us like hawks for the whole week we were there!!

  4. Think we were black booked by Spirit of Breydon when they couldnt catch us on Breydon :)

Rest of the week we were followed around by the rangers in their small river launches. Of course they tried to make it look like coincidence that they turned up everywhere we were but we were on best behaviour when on the rivers.
